Pure white needle crystal. Soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in acetone and ethanol, insoluble in hydrocarbons. It often contains water of crystal, which is lost at 50℃. Aqueous solution with insurance powder and ammonia water after dark purple, very dilute when pure blue, very concentrated when purple, this characteristic can be used as a REDOX indicator (blue ~ colorless), stable in acidic medium, in alkaline medium instability, corrosion of metal. Melting point of 175-180 ℃.
